James has been painting since he was a young child. Since 1976, when his illustration career began, he has been a leading book cover artist. His work incorporates the skills he developed creating art for major publishers and the passion he feels for the world around him. James considers himself an abstract artist who uses realism as one of his tools. In this exhibition, he deals with a variety of subjects, with bold paint and design and always with an obvious joy in the act of creation.

The human figure has always been a very basic and demanding form of expression for many artists. This exhibit demonstrates the unique and compelling figurative expression of eleven Gallery artists exhibiting over twenty five paintings.
