Representative Reviews of Paintings by Nat Krate

"Nat Krate is an exceptionally talented painter; he has the talent to disturb us with his imagery…or to charm us."
- -Sheila Stewart-Leach, Juror
Alliance for the Arts Statewide Competition Ft. Meyers, FL
"Krate's 'Elegy for a Young Man' is the best work of art in the exhibition…The symbolism of the piece connects it with the great art continuum. The painting, therefore...has something profound to say. It is a deep personal painting that offers universal meaning to those aware enough to read it."
- -Kevin Dean and Kay Kipling
The Longboat Observer, Longboat Key, FL
"Sly and shocking, 'Gathering Storm' packs a punch that is unforgettable, and sets a tone that few works in the exhibit can begin to match."
- -Laura Stewart, Sunday News Journal
Daytona Beach, FL
"Nat Krate is a thoroughly modern painter; his provocative figures inhabit our physical world in a sensual reality of passion and psychology. An artist of disciplined technique, creative force and intellectual inquiry, Krate creates paintings that ask universal questions of existence. His best work reinforces the viewer's search for self through complex and poetic relationships."
- -Peter L. Koenig, Weekly Planet
Sarasota, FL
"Krate has indeed, won an impressive number of major awards…The reasons for his remarkable record are evident in the paintings on view…storytelling skills…master of mood and lighting. There are only some of the qualities that have made his work so widely admired."
- -Dorothy Stockbridge
Sarasota Herald Tribune, Sarasota FL
