The painting is supposed to be about empowerment--supposed to be about
standing up to the monster in the bedroom. So how come it's fun? She's got
flowers on her curtains and a pink blankie. She also has her favorite sports hero
framed above her bed and she's about to nail the monster with her slingshot.
And the monster knows it.
